APOCalypse 2500 is a totally new view into the future of humankind set in a post apocalyptic world with a twist. This pen and dice RPG takes place in the 26th century a world transformed by sciences unwitting actions that reconnect the planet Earth to the galaxies ancient radiant mystical energies. The game is set in the 4th century AV which is 400 years after the opening of the vortex. In this new world magic has returned and with it have the many fabled creatures of humanities legendary past. This future world is a place where high technology and high magic exist simultaneously on a dramatically changed earth.

In the 4th century AV (2500 AD) humanity now shares the newly reformed continent of Neo Pangaea with hundreds of mythical species. The dwarves, Elves, and Trolls along with many other species once more walk the earth. Dragons and strange phenomena are common place in the world of humanities future. Even humankind its self has begun to mutate producing a wide variety of human sub-races.

The world in general has fallen back in time in one significant aspect, its social structure. The age of great nations controlling entire continents are long since passed. What has replaced the super nations of the early 21st century is a worldwide hodgepodge of small conglomerations, city-state kingdoms, and thousands of small feudal fiefdoms ruled by petty lords and outlaw gangs. While some of the larger populated regions of the world have high technology and sophisticated social order thousands more are ruled as little kingdoms. The world, especially outside these medium sized kingdoms and larger cities is a dangerous place with a general “every creature for themselves,” type mentality. Aside from dangerous beasts and non-humans there is also a significant human threat in the form of roving outlaw gangs and petty feudal lords and their minions.

The earth now is sparsely populated place compared to the billions of humans of the early 22nd century. By year 2500 humans number only in the hundreds of millions and share the planet with at least as many arcane species right out of the pages of ancient legends. There are vast regions of the planet without civilization and totally unexplored filled with adventure and great treasure fo the hardy adventurer to discover.

This strange and dangerous new world is both like and unlike the ancient times when man and arcane species walked the earth. This time man is an advanced technological race attempting to coexist with ancient beings who's technology has always been magic. For many this future world is a strange place where all creatures of intelligence seem to have embraced both high technology and high magic. It is a place where one is as likely to find a sword wielding magic using elf lord as they are to come across a pissed off dwarf with a Kalashnikov and a hover cycle.

Magic in the 4th century AV
The vortex changed many things in this world and magic is amongst the most profound of them. For now upon this strange and sometimes fascinating world there is strong magic and a plethora of those who both claim and demonstrate its power. There are everyday more and more humans born with the ability to tap this force of nature and manifest all manner of seemingly supernatural ability. There are also many Arcane subspecies who can wield this power and some that even seem to exist because of it. Human kind has, as with all things, taken wholeheartedly to this new aspect of A.V. life forming great guilds and societies for the study and mastery of this strange new force. With what almost amounts to a religious zeal these organizations have gathered, over the last couple of centuries, vast storehouses of knowledge, understanding, and methodology for the practice of magic.

In the world of APOCalypse 2500 nearly anything is possible from adventures into unknown catacombs to space and time travel. Many many different character options also exist as one can play a wide range of humans, mutants, arcane, and even alien species. Character creation is far more dynamic and varied in APOC 2500's world and does not restrict certain skills or tools to specific character classes. One can even play non humanoid creatures chosen from amongst the various monster books. This world is wide open to the imagination and gives players and Game Masters virtually endless possibility for adventure in the 26th century.
